Tom and Lynn Bates
Awana Commander
Married:16 years
Number of Children: 2
Favorite Food: Sushi and Hot Dogs
Favorite Verse: Psalm 139
Tom and Lynn started working with children in the mid '90s. They led the children's program at a small missionary church in downtown Los Angeles and really enjoyed it. They have helped out in various aspects of ministries at different churches and parachurch organizations. After having children of their own they decided to serve in Awana. Tom and Lynn love children and they love seeing them worship, learn bible verses, and playing games. They believe it is a privilege to see the Word of God being shared abroad in the hearts of children as a spiritual foundation is built. Encountering God's Word changes children and adults forever. Through Awana Tom and Lynn believe that these children are being equipped to love others in ways that the world cannot love, serve others in ways that the world cannot serve, and ultimately, impact the world in ways that bring glory to God. They are excited about being part of that!
